Oh the holidays!

Holly jolly that's me. You bet it is.
Well, another chapter in my messed up family life. My sister is in town for New Years. She's staying with my other sister. Well they called and invited me over for the evening. Drinks and fun times! How could I possibly resist? So despite the fact that I have bronchitus going into pneumonia, I will go and spend time with my family if it KILLS me! Well, right after I finish this nap because what with the codine cough syrup and whatnot I am kind of groggy right now.
And then the electric goes out because someone hit a power pole on the main street. So I am not really moving fast and then they call again where are you.....well I have to wait for my son to get ready because he wants to go too.
Soooo we get there around 5 and everyone is sitting around having drinks and chatting so we sit down and I'm trying to focus on the conversation and all of a sudden...everyone but me and my son gets up and goes into the other room and starts exchanging gifts! Well ok it looks like they were waiting for us to get there to start but the weird thing(well one of them anyway) is that no one has anything for us. I mean absolutely nothing.
So I know I am still a bit foggy and I say to myself "well DAMN" and then my sister goes into her office and comes out with a framed photo of a tree in her yard and says well I didn't have time to wrap this but this is for you. Uh...I am just so under whelmed...so the evening drags on...and finally my son and I have had enough we get up to leave and his 13 yr od cousin gives him a big ole hug and he says, "That's enough I hugged you 3 times already and I have to start charging you for more hugs." How much she wants to know? $1.50 he says. Well I have $20, let's get started. Keeping in mind he's 26, really, I think not.
You can't make this stuff up you know.
